About us

The «Carrefour Coop» project dates back to 2010 when a group of Francophone cooperative associations formed a second-level cooperative to carry out a large-scale project in Lamèque, a project whose centerpiece is a Center for Interpretation of Cooperation in Acadia. . After conducting a feasibility study, the co-op and its initial project were put on hold due to lack of support and resources. In addition, the initial project was considered too complex, or even too ambitious, especially since it was necessary to acquire land and build new.

Carrefour Coop ltée was reconstituted in April 2018 at a special meeting where a new board of directors was formed with a brand new project concept, simpler and adapted to the needs of the day. The new board has retained the services of a project manager for its implementation while maintaining its educational, cultural, heritage and recreational tourism character. Carrefour Coop ltée thus remains a group of French-speaking co-operative associations in New Brunswick and elsewhere, to which various organizations and individual members of support are associated. Its mission is to create and operate a Lamèque Interpretive Center of Cooperation in Acadie while associating various services and activities.
