Carrefour Coop, as its name suggests, is a friendly meeting place for residents and visitors, offering different attractions and experiences in educational, cultural, heritage and recreational tourism.

Through this project, the promoters want to demonstrate, through various artifacts and presentations, the evolution of the cooperative and mutualist movement from yesterday to today, on the local, provincial, national or even international scene.

According to the president, Mr. Paul Lanteigne:

This should be a source of pride and inspiration for the great challenges of our present society. Carrefour Coop is naturally located in Lamèque, high place of cooperation, form of the Antigonish movement during the 30s.

The project includes several other major components, including the interpretation of cooperative fisheries and the interpretation of renewable energy in different forms. It integrates several activities related to existing local attractions, such as the Acadian Peninsula Eco Park, the Lamèque Wind Park, the Founders’ Park, the “Mysterious Charrette” museum, Two Thousand Islands Treasures, the track as well as fishing trips at sea. Through its different components, this project will bring new and enriching experiences to the population of the Acadian Peninsula and New Brunswick as well as to visitors from outside the province. province. The planned activities are likely to be offered as a combination package, in conjunction with existing attractions in the Islands region and the Acadian Peninsula.
